Lolita Dickinson is a native of South Alabama and currently resides in Mobile. She is an award-winning artist that is represented in a number of galleries in the Southeast. Lolita holds a BS degree in organizational management from the University of Mobile. After a successful business career with an international corporation, Lolita retired in 2001 to devote her full time to her art. Her work has been featured on several local TV shows and magazines in the Mobile area and can be found in private collections throughout the United States and across the globe.
Dickinson works in various mediums and produces both realistic and abstract works of art. Having grown up near the Mobile are, her work often reflects life and subjects of the Gulf Coast and Delta regions. She also produces works of art based on her travels to Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Her landscapes, water scenes, and abstract works are often filled with light reminiscent of the atmospheric paintings of her favorite English painter, J.M.W. Turner.
According to Lolita: “My paintings are visual narratives. My goal is to create a story in visual form that leaves the viewer with a bit of mystery and ambiguity providing them with their own connections with the painting.”
